GAC file path for native images created by ngen

NGen creates files in the GAC under paths like:

C:\WINDOWS\assembly\NativeImages_v2.0.50727_32\mscorlib\ca87ba84221991839abbe7d4bc9c6721\mscorlib.ni.dll

Where is the GUID derived from? Is it related to the MVID of the assembly?

There are related questions, but they miss this detail. I may have missed another

For ref, this came up while using windbg to verify that the same dll versions were being loaded on two machines.

It is not the MVID. The Fusion API doesn't document how its generated, I'd guess at a hash (not guid) of the assembly metadata. – Hans Passant Mar 14 '12 at 18:05
