An electrical engineer by training, I have been an Apple user since 1980 and a mac user since 1984.

My professional career has focused on digital hardware implementation, primarily at the board level, for military and commercial communications systems, and integration of those systems. I have written software professionally in C and assembly language. Informally, and at home, I have written a fair amount of perl. I use perl, bash, git, and a bit of Apple Script, HTML/CSS, and C to maintain and administer a home network and server.

I enjoy working with the command line in MacOS/darwin/unix, and I use MacPorts and Brew to load and integrate open source software on my home systems. I often have questions about configuring and managing a unix file server. The communities on StackExchange are a good place to find answers. I hope I can answer questions that might help others with similar questions.
