I'm a physicist by training who originally learned a little programming to help me in my studies, which developed (pun intended) into a hobby and, eventually, a career. Per my background, I am almost entirely self-taught, and, as such, have a rather eclectic knowledge base, with my level of familiarity with any given subject depending entirely on whether or not I've encountered it in the context of some previous project.
