I have a background in Mathematics, focusing on statistics, and programming.

For the last 5 years I have been a mix of researcher, frontend developer, ui/ux designer and doing a lot of data visualization tools with d3.js integrated with Angular.

Although my main focus of work is on frontend, I also deal with database design (gotta love it). I like that satisfaction of analyzing the structure of the data and model it into a workable solution.

Its the same kind of satisfaction that I get when designing a chart. You need to understand the data, the right type of chart, the best set of interactive functionalities, the most appealing design, so people can actually use it, explore the underlying relations within the data and build their own stories.

I Did some work with API's, with Lumen/Laravel, designing an API to serve the Angular frontends, specialized with complex data structures and serving the dataviz frontend.

Lately I focused on program management, with special interest in Agile. As our dataviz project got more complex I find myself managing a small but dedicated team of developers, .

Before all this I was heading a unit on Statistics in the Portuguese government where I did have to manage the information systems in order to provide accurate and timely official statistics on fisheries.
