Hello World!
I'm Othneil, a highly creative visionary with a strong background in UI/UX design, front-end/back-end development, strategic planning/marketing, and technical writing.
I’ve traveled over 2,000 miles from the U.S. Virgin Islands to Texas to pursue a career as an Airline Pilot. During my training, I faced a problem of finding great resources online and took the challenge of learning how to code to build a website. Today, Student Pilot Portal, the online flight training system I developed is used in 8 countries around the world and 98% of pilots who use the application said that it helped them improve their aviation knowledge.
Little did I know that undergoing such a demanding journey would completely change my life by teaching me new skills and scratch the creative itch I’ve had since a child. I believe in greatness in all I do and aim to be the best I can be, regardless of the mission. In fact, I recently raised over $2,000 in donations for nonprofits while volunteering 900+ hours to community projects assists youths with learning about flight. I’m also responsible for a 15% increase in my school’s student pilot enrollment which I obtain through social media and print recruitment campaigns.
As a web developer, I have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, Apache, SASS/LESS, WordPress, Git (Git Flow), SCRUM / Agile Methodologies, GitHub, Bitbucket, Asana, wireframing, prototyping, user stories, Moqups, and GIMP. I’m able to produce and edit graphics and can work collectively and independently since I am familiar with Git version control. Again, I’m truly passionate about technology - not a specific framework or language. I care deeply about the code I write and how it affects others. I mostly enjoy interacting with people and seeing their smiles knowing that I’ve helped them accomplish their goals.
If you feel that my core values align perfectly with what you’re doing and believe that I would be a great fit for your company both culturally and technologically, feel free to contact me.
I’m open to opportunities where I will be able to contribute, learn, and make a difference.
Looking forward to joining your team!
