I'm Frances Buontempo, but you can call me Fran. I edit the ACCU's Overload magazine and I can program my way out of a paper bag in various ways including genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimisation, Monte-Carlo simulations of diffusion and evolution. I have even demonstrated how to code you way into a paper bag in the first place. I have woven these into a book about machine learning for programmers.

I've been programming in C++ for ages and also know C# and Python. I have noodled with Java, Scala, Haskell, F#, Lisp, R, and kdb.

I'm currently writing a C++ book to help people who got left behind catch up.

I keep learning about machine learning and love mathematics and loiter on the includecpp discord from time to time.
