I am currently working on a Ph.D. in Genetics and Genomics at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine and Genetics Institute. Long story short: I’m an aspiring scientist. Ever since I was a kid, I have had an unquenchable thirst for science and learning. My passion is an intersection of genetics, statistics, psychology, and anthropology. I am curious about how human neurobiology, together with social environment, shapes behaviors.

I also enjoy learning about the biomolecular mechanisms triggering pathologies and molecular biology that drives disorders. I am particularly interested in the transient effects causing lasting pathologies, which is why I enjoy working on problems concerning RNA biology. However, I also enjoy working with underappreciated mutations in the human genome, including copy number variation and tandem repeat variation.

Besides science, I also enjoy pondering issues of social relevance – most often pertaining to religion and scientific literacy. I consider myself to be a bookworm, and some of my favorite authors are R. Dawkins and C. Hitchens. In my free time, I tutor high-school and college students, and proof-read their assignments. I also dabble in cosmetic formulation.
