I am a novice, hobbyist programmer, currently teaching myself C. Having pursued and failed at multiple humanities degrees, I am returning to school in the fall of 2019 to pursue an Associate of Science degree in computer technology, in a programming path. As a 100% disabled veteran, I cannot earn outside income, so any knowledge or degree I gain is not useless (to me), but somewhat unnecessary. Utltimately my goal is to gain enough knowledge to be able to contribute to the FOSS community. This also stems from my disabled status. I suffered the disability serving my country. As a humanist, I still feel that I need to be contributing to the advancement of humanity, and this seems to be the way I can continue to do so despite my inability to work.
