IT Beginnings:

I started officially working as an Information technology professional on a software development project for the US Air Force at the Air Force Academy. It was here that I learned to work on a 3-team Scrum project using TFS and .NET. My primary role was as an IT Security analyst for the team. I performed Certification and Accreditation of the software so that it could exist on Air Force systems. My duties were code review, secure code analysis, change control, ethical hacking and penetration testing, and installing and operating several large enterprise systems. I architected, installed, and operated the team's first private HyperV cloud to allow for full integration of Visual Studio testing and bug fixing using System Center Virtual Machine Manager and TFS 2010. It was on this project that I was given the option to develop on SharePoint 2007, which ultimately led to my career shift to SharePoint due to the popularity of the platform.

Maturation:

In later years I have progressed my SharePoint expertise by developing some webparts in C#, although i never became a full time developer. I mostly worked with the business to build web applications and advanced capabilities using all features of the platform. At one time we used SharePoint to control reporting that guided Congressional funding and reporting to the White House for a country-wide village defense program. I practiced and certified in Knowledge Management, which attempts to be smarter and better at delivering actual usable results out of a massive information system and reduce training and turnover effects. I became a SharePoint consultant which refined and taught me countless skills like customer engagement and satisfaction, leading a project or design, estimating work, achieving deadlines, and handling the ugly stuff like mistakes, unexpected outcomes, and contract overruns.

Management:

I am also excited to be a manager of a small team of extremely smart and capable developers and architects. I continue to learn more about myself and others through the lens of leadership.
