Alessio Grancini is an architectural designer originally from Italy and currently based in the city of Los Angeles. His practice operates between architecture and extended reality media. He shares with his thesis collaborator Runze Zhang achievements as the Gehry Prize 2019 for the best Master Graduate thesis at SCI-Arc and the best app for AEC at the USC Creatingreality Hackathon ‘18. Alessio joined the advanced technology team at Morphosis Architects in October ‘18.
Alessio receives a bachelor of architecture from Milan Polytechnic in 2015 and successively graduates from SCI-Arc in 2018.
Alessio’s fondness for technology applied to design comes from the scientific background as high-school student and the innate enthusiasm for cinematic arts as animation, VFX and sound.The extended collaboration with his thesis partner Runze keeps producing speculative prototypes for urban Augmented Reality platforms. The thesis project is mean to be scaled up during the next year. Alessio’s disciplinary approach for Augmented Reality is influenced by the discipline of architecture and is meant to generate solid models for interacting with new realities.
