Hi there, I'm Ruben! I'm a software engineer by education, holding a Master's degree in Software Engineering and Software Languages. I'm currently working on my PhD at the Software Languages Lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium.

For many of my personal projects, Python is my language of choice, although I occasionally opt for languages such as C++ or Scala, depending on the circumstances. I tend to put a high emphasis on code quality and best practices, naturally feeding my interest in code scanners, bug detectors, and style linters. I'm also very interested in security and specifically security flaws, although I am less well-versed in these topics than I would ideally want to be.

My prior academic work thus focused a lot on code analysis, specifically pattern mining and pattern detection. However, I have recently changed directions, and am now working on performance engineering, non-functional testing, and tooling related to resource usage.
