My career started in accounting and expanded into business/data analysis. Everything I know is self taught and at first programming was just a tool that I thought might help me be more efficient if I picked up a few tricks here and there.
My ah ha moment was the first time I scripted out a fairly complex SQL query without using the builder. I got a real sense of joy and pride out of that that I never really got from accounting. There is quite a bit I don't know but sense that day I have taken every opportunity I could to learn more and move my career in a direction that allows me to expand my role and knowledge in programming and data analytics.
