I am passionate about doing things for myself and deeply understanding the things I rely upon. I live in an off-grid tiny house I designed and built located in a garden in New Orleans. I grow most of my own fruits and vegetables, generate all the electricity I use with solar panels, and collect rainwater.
I studied math, physics, and education at Ohio University, graduating in 2015.
More recently, I got interested in programming with the goal of developing educational games.
I have been teaching myself (mostly Java but also Javascript) using Coursera, Udemy, edX, Wikipedia, and of course StackOverflow. As a teacher and as a person dedicated to lifelong learning, I believe strongly the everyone benefits from information being free. I am very excited by the work that so many programmers have put into making it possible to teach oneself computer programming without having to go through formal schooling for it.
