I'm a graphic designer with programming skills.

At 19, I started learning Design and Marketing the proper way. But after 2 years I failed to convert my teachers into believers. I tried one more year. Different landscapes, very different people. Unpleasant. So, I dropped those classes and got hired to translate marketing briefings into some form of art, as I became an Art Director for advertising agencies.

That's when my professional life started.

With the emerging WWW, I soon needed to explore further options for designing tomorrow's next big thing. I sliced TIF and PSD into JPEG's and GIF's and found creative ways to spare some Ko, before they turned into Mo and consumed whatever expensive bandwidth you had at the time.

RIP 14,4k, 28,8k and 56k modems. I will not miss you!

As I wondered how I could maximize design opportunities by leveraging my knoweledge of the language behind the Internet, I looked at coding and saw some beauty in there, too.

I started with HTML, enhanced it with some CSS and some JS, then felt the need to learn something less static. Datas were there, they needed to grow, to be searched and manipulated, to be taken and given. So, for some odd reasons, I learned ASP and used Access DB's. I fully enjoyed it!

Colors, numbers and constructed dialogues with a machine, what a wonder!

Yet, after a while, I got bored. I needed to come back to purest forms of design. It was time for me to focus on PSD and AI, rediscover INDD and enjoy PDF again, I designed some fonts and loved vectors more than ever. I also perfected myself in color correction and digital developpment techniques.

I then decided to dive into Adobe's version of Flash, where I could possibly mix my recent passion for vectors with some interesting animation and AS functions. The dynamic side of it led me to XML, very simple, very structured, elegant yet very static in itself. It was promising and deceiving almost at the same time.

I then learned just enough PHP for me to do what I needed to do and keep enjoying coding. I recently got passionate about JQuery. It's Javascript at its best. It's also a beautiful engine to enhance user experience in many ways, it can be used to make everyday browsing easier and better.

Based on these elements, and wether you agree with me or not, I will describe myself as a Graphic Designer with programming skills and not as a programmer with designing skills.

I'm an architect of the web, with solid knowledge of construction and decoration techniques.

I'm also a Director with an Artistic point of view.

To keep it simple, I'm an Art Director.

And I love code - as an Art form.
