I got my first real programming job my freshman year of college working on an image processing and mapping program for a professor. I shared an office with two other students and we wrote in C. Eventually that prof left the university and started his own company, taking us all with him. At some point we converted our code from C to C++, ported it to Unix, Linux, Windows and Mac (in the days of MacOS 9 - ick!).

After 23 years working for the same boss in a start-up company that had been "starting up" for 20 years, I finally had to move on for financial reasons. My next job required VB.NET and I've been there since 2006.

I also do personal projects in C# and Java with my web site being mostly Perl.
