Hazael was awarded a PhD degree by Trinity College & University in 2004, after his PhD research programme in Trinity College Dublin. He studied and graduated from the University of Kharkiv National Academy of Municipal Economy in 1995 with BSc and MSc degrees in Engineering. His PhD thesis was on "The Potential Impacts of Light Rail Transit on Travel Behaviour". In the research, a method borrowed from social psychology called the Theory of Planned Behaviour and Multinomial Logit Model was used. From the Theory, according to Icek Ajze (1985 and 1987), states that, human action is guided by three kinds considerations: behavioural beliefs, normative beliefs and control beliefs. All behaviour is determined by intention to carry it out. Intention is a function of three factors: attitude toward the Behaviour, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control. The combination of these three lead to the formation of behavioural intention. Let's apply the Theory of Planned Behaviour. The person attitude, perceptions of what other people think and perceptions of how easy an action is to carry out, determines whether someone will choose to carry out the given behaviour, such as, commuting or travelling with the light rail transit system (LUAS). The Irish LUAS system is a dynamic traffic mode, that will potentially impacts on the people's travel behaviour and generates more trips.
