I have been programming for almost 10 years now. I began learning Java and C# through YouTube videos while I was in high school back around 2010, mostly playing around and trying to make games and applications. I graduated college with an Information Systems degree, which did not teach me much actual programming, but more of the business of software development.

As of 2018, I am now a full-time Software Engineer at a large retailer in the midwest. I mostly work on Java + Spring + SQL-RDBMS applications that are used internally by different departments of the business in their day-to-day operations. I am learning a ton every single day about programming and all of the moving pieces that make up a software development operation. I even got to start an initiative to start converting some old Java backends to NodeJS microservices for the cloud.

I am still a total Junior Developer, but so far I love my job and wake up most days excited to go to work and solve complex problems through programming while working with some very bright people. Every day brings something new.
