Canadian born and raised. Mother tongue is English, and know a fair bit of French. I am a scientist (physical oceanography) by training, but now work in the policy realm.

Lived and worked in the U.S. (Oregon, Virginia, northern New York) for a combined 8 years, so am familiar with some American usage as well (much of it is similar, except for some obvious regional differences).
