After a 17 year career in geosciences, I’m retraining as a Full Stack Developer through a program called EDGE UP.

EDGE UP is a partnership between Calgary Economic Development, the Information and Technology Council, and Future Skills Centre. The goal is to retrain mid-career energy professionals into a new career in technology.

EDGE UP is working with RIIPEN, and several post secondary institutions in Calgary including Bow Valley College, SAIT, and the University of Calgary.

Employers in Calgary (who have under 500 staff in Canada) are eligible for a 75% subsidy if they onboard an EDGE UP 2.0 participant to a placement starting in January 2022 (funding is secured to March 31st 2022) through a program called Work Integrated Learning.
