I've been learning and using code and software for many years. I first learned BASIC on an Atari 600. This skill helped me to get a job with a (now-defunct) company named, Barber-Colman working on energy management systems for buildings.
I've enjoyed what I've done for work over the years, but coding in the energy management/building controls field is very much manufacturer oriented. I'd really like to use more languages than just the next BASIC-like language.
I began learning C in the 1980's. Over the years, I've worked on and off with C, Perl, Python, and a little C++. But, I never really got anywhere.
This year (2020), when the pandemic hit, most of my spare time away from work has been spent at home. I've gotten myself organized in the last several months since March (now July) and I'm learning at a good pace.
I'm a Linux Geek. And, a Raspberry Pi Geek. I don't do Windows, please don't ask.
However, I have been surprised that some Microsoft stuff has found it's way into the Open Source world. So, I've been busy also learning how to use Visual Studio Code, .NET Core, and C#. What will they think of next.
So, enough about me. Happy Coding!
