I was born in Oviedo, Spain, in 1985 where I received my BSc in biology in the University of Oviedo (2008). During this time I had my first experience with oceanographic research as part of the CARPOS project working with the cyanobacterium Trichodesmium spp. I continued my studies with the Erasmus Mundus MSc in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC) (2008-2010) and I am currently working on my PhD in the Ecology Area under the supervision of Prof. Ricardo Anadón. My thesis focuses on long-term variations in the Cantabrian Sea’s pelagic ecosystem (with an emphasis on plankton) during the last decades, as part of the RADIALES project. I also have had the opportunity to collaborate in other projects in the Area, such as COSTAS and DOS MARES.
