Hi there, I am Thanos. I love the web and writing clean, beautiful code. I also love coming up with great solutions to common and uncommon problems for websites and web applications. My main concern is making the web an exciting place for both users and developers, as well as making sure that people I work with always have a thing or two to learn from my experience.
I started as a PHP developer, working mostly as a freelancer for clients with small businesses who wanted a better online representation. Following my relocation to London in 2010, I started working as a Senior PHP Developer for Open Business Associates, a small team providing solutions for companies like JCDecaux, as well as consultation on open-source software.
When OpenBA closed, I was hired by our main client, One Sigma Ltd as a Senior Full Stack Javascript Developer. We developed and maintained a real-time web application aimed to help large organisation with their day-to-day schedule organisation. The software would suggest task assignments to employees on a daily basis based on the available resources and key skills. The project also included the development of a native iOS application.
Two years later I was hired as a Senior Developer at Long Tall Sally. My role involved maintaining the PHP intranet platform, development of several projects mostly written in PHP and Javascipt architecting, and, finally, developing and maintaining the front-end for the company's website, which is mostly written in AngularJS.
Since March 2017, I joined Shopper Media Group, a group of media agencies, as a Senior Developer. The role is involves leading a team of developers responsible to deliver a suite of six platforms that will enable the company's clients plan, implement and evaluate their own marketing campaigns.
Finally, during my spare time, as a University of Westminster alumni, I volunteer in two academic projects written in MeanJS (a framework based on MongoDB, ExpressJS, AngularJS and NodeJS), being responsible of leading a small team of students to develop new features and maintain our code base. As part of the volunteering, I also mentor students, providing guidance and resources that will help them gain better understanding of the industry's principles and requirements, as well as more advanced development paradigms and best practices.
I don't know what I will be doing in ten years, but what I do know is that I will keep trying to make the web a better place for everyone!
