I am a Data Engineer working in the UK. Over the years I have worked for a broad selection of clients, in both the public and private sectors, in the UK and abroad (Europe, Africa, Asia).

I started out developing in COBOL for a financials software company. From there I moved into VB6 development, then .NET arrived and I migrated to C#.NET, then to Python.

In parallel I was involved in reporting from the early days, prior to BI or CPM being buzzwords. I did a lot of work with Cognos products, then moved back to SQL Server (SSAS, SSRS) as their products started to catch up with the market. I moved into PostgreSQL a few years ago and haven't looked back since.

Nowadays I tend to get involved in database design/ development, data warehousing/ reporting, and large data migration projects.
