I've been working in IT since the mid 90s from help desk to sysadmin to sys engineer to application support to more recently doing Splunk development.

I have recently found an interest in more serious programming than I've had to do during my career. With such a strong emphasis in automation, I'd rather be the automater than the automated.

So, I'm likely to post a lot of newbie questions but I promise that there was likely hours of research and trying before I do ask.
