I am new to programming, I started Nov. 26 2010 learning to use Google's App Inventor. I did this for almost 2 years, learned a lot. I was asked to be a power user and help with development. I worked in the forums (AI Google Groups) to help others learn to use AI as well. I have been for the last year learning java and to build android apps, all through online tutorials.
