In my day job I'm a long-serving VFX Technical Director, Pipeline Developer and Houdini Educator at Rising Sun Pictures where we work on digital visual effects in big movies like your Harry Potter's, your X-Men's and your Game-of-Thrones'es. At RSP we use SideFX Houdini in the Effects department, and I know it well, I often help others with ideas/approaches or if anyone gets stuck or needs help figuring out why something isn't working. In my spare time I've explored 2d orbits-based fractals extensively (your Mandelbrots, your PhoenixDoubleNovas, and two things that I call 'NegMandels' and 'Mandelfields'). I discovered what could be novel phenomena in the realm of reaction-diffusion simulations, and implemented and modified various new formulas (which can be found in the Ready open-source project). I've also written lots of experimental code, including a particle/pixel/automata visual playground written in java called 'tyler'. I also make playful and experimental 3D things using Houdini at home. I use Gentoo Linux as my operating system, which keeps me on my toes and is a consistently great learning experience and an awesome Linux distro. I love programming in Python, Java, C++, Shader Languages, Shell-Scripting (zsh, bash (I have to use tcsh at work, hurrk.. no love there!)), and the amazingly useful Awk! I love code art and am an avid follower and huge fan of demoscene, especially demo music.
