The potential of “smart” devices is nearly limitless. From industrial automation to on-demand entertainment, IoT embedded systems connect a vast array of machines, tools and systems to the internet and allow them to communicate directly with us and each other.
As a New Product Engineer and holder of 19 patents, I am passionate about translating customer requirements into innovative, profitable products. From machine to connect to the last mile, I’ve spent the last two decades working with global teams to develop industry leading, first-of-a-kind products, including a Bluetooth Mesh lighting control with a real-time location system, used extensively in automotive and retail parking lots worldwide.
My goals in new product development are to enhance the functionality of smart devices while accelerating time to market and lowering production costs. Leveraging expertise that comes from over two decades of experience, I have worked extensively with high tech companies in China, including the buildout and startup of a Shenzhen-based factory. I align teams strategically and supply roadmaps, workflows and SDLC processes from bare metal, ensuring new products are housed on a robust and reliable infrastructure.
-- At Henny Penny, I led a nine-person software and hardware new product development team develop a commercial-grade hot food equipment system for a major fast food chain. This is the first successful new product development project that the company has seen in nearly eight years.
-- At LSI Industries, I secured multiple patents during the development of distributed intelligent lighting systems equipped with tracking, beaconing and trilateration location capabilities.
-- At Juno Lighting Group, I designed software and hardware for LED-powered, Linux-based IoT lighting control systems, traveling extensively China to manage the team throughout all stages of new product development.
-- At C3 Lighting Solutions, I developed modular lighting technology and helped define the industry standard for DC-powered illumination utilized in LED products for MRI scanners.
IoT embedded systems have the potential to impact everything we do and offer data insights on the effectiveness of how we do them.
