One of the hobbies that I enjoy at home, is constructing web sites the hard way - using nothing more than Window XP's NotePad and a browser. I have yet to reach the point when the sites will go on-line, as the process has been very time-consuming. I would describe myself as an amateur coder, and have progressed from learning HTML 4.01, some years ago, to XHTML 1.0 and CSS2. I am now considering learning HTML 5 and CSS3, but that's another story....
More recently, I have become interested in PHP, as I needed a programming script of some sort to make an HTML contact form functional. I discovered StackOverflow, while searching for answers relating to my contact form, which I have now saved in a PHP format. The site has already been of great help for dealing with the many errors that have appeared in my first tentative efforts to get to grips with the PHP language, together with a few PHP books I have picked up along the way. I am only just beginning to understand a little of what various snippets of php code actually do, and realise that there is a world of difference between HTML coding and PHP programming. I am however, already finding StackOverflow to be a great source of help thus far.
