Hello!

My name is Geoff Clements, I'm an electronic engineer by education but have had many years’ experience across many engineering disciplines.

I believe that I have now reached my potential in the aerospace industry and I'm looking for a change of career that will be challenging, rewarding and stimulating. In the aerospace industry I have achieved the level of Assistant Chief Airworthiness Engineer which is a senior position and has a number of design authority signatures attached to it. Progression from this point is possible but I believe I have gained all I can gain from this industry and am looking to something new.

I have always been motivated by self-learning and I cover a large range of subjects that interest me, one of these subjects is open source code. I have coded embedded systems professionally in the past and I have made contributions to open source projects over the years.

Over my career I have used many different languages and frameworks, the languages I used are:

  • Machine code (many different architectures)
  • Fortran
  • Pascal
  • Forth
  • PLM (embedded code compiler by Intel)
  • C
  • C++
  • SQL (various flavours)
  • BASH scripting
  • Python (2 and 3)
  • Rust

I am more than happy to expand that list because up to now it is limited only by the amount of spare time I have. I would say that I am most proficient in Rust with Python being a close second and I have an aspiration to learn some functional programming languages. You can see an example of my coding on Github:

So please don't write me off due to my years in the aerospace industry, I do feel I have something to offer including many years' experience at all levels in a team.

I am interested in remote working and I am quite happy to travel if needed. I have years of experience in running large teams distributed across the world and I understand both the difficulties and benefits such an organisation can bring. I am also open to part-time working or working on a contractual basis if you feel employing me has too many unknowns for you to be comfortable with.
