VisionApp (http://vision.app) is working on a novel "myopia.app" to teach children and young professionals the healthy way to use their electronic screens, avoiding myopia (near-sightedness) and ocular fatigue.
Myopia is an ocular problem that affects distance vision, making it impossible to see far-away objects well. Numerous scientific studies show that the children who spend a lot of time watching near objects, as is the case of reading, watching videos or playing videogames using smartphones and tablets, are at a much greater risk of becoming myopic (short-sighted) in the future.
By year 2050 one of each two people will be myope.
Currently there are roughly 30% of myopes worldwide, and it is estimated that by year 2050 half of the world population will be short sighted. In oriental countries such as China, only in the last 30 years the percentage of myopic children has increased from 30% to 80%. Unless we take measures urgently, the same will happen in Europe and America.
