Long-time off-and-on techie getting back in the game.
Born in Connecticut, went to college in Maryland (doing my first open source work as part of a nascent blogging community), moved to Seattle and went to college some more until it stuck. Took my shiny new B.S. degree and got a job in IT, which having been the point.
Got a job at an ill-conceived and -maintained startup in January 2008, lost it 10mos later when the recession hit. Heartbroken, depressed, not qualifying for unemployment, despairing of finding a job as an underskilled IT pro in a down economy, turned my back on IT for five years.
Now the economy is as better as it's going to get in the short term. Nondisclosable events have lead to my resurging interest in IT. I'm getting books out of the library, planning a personal website, and I got a StackExchange account to see if I couldn't answer some questions.
But I am so rusty. OMG teh rust.
