I have an EE undergraduate and an MSCS and have been working in embedded systems (4-32 bit micros) for most of my career (now, over 30 years - ugh) and use desktop programming mostly to interface to the embedded system for display, configuration, data transfer, and firmware update.
I started on the desktop with VB6 in 1996, and converted to C# in 2011; still learning a lot every time I do something.
On the personal side, I spend my precious few free moments either at the piano or in the woodshop, often with my 10 y/o son. I have a passion for music, fast cars, fountain pens, and great coffee :-)
I have an interestingly wide circle of friends - most of whom think I'm crazy for spending 80% of my life in the "lunatic fringe."
