Hello,
My name is Kostas and I live in Athens, Greece. I'm 19 years old and I am a Computer Systems Engineering student at the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences.
I started practicing programming as a hobby, when I was 8 years old. In the past 11 years I learnt a lot of things about computers that at this point I feel that the term Software Engineer is to strict to describe what I am able and like to do. I like considering myself a Computer Generalist.
Most of the projects today require people with knowledge in multiple subjects in order for the project to get completed. And in my opinion that's the power of being a generalist; being able to see the whole image of a project and not only that small part you have specialize on. Being a generalist you are also able to design a big project since you know and have experience with a lot of the available tools and technologies that are needed. I would say I'm something like a "jack of all trades but a master of one", a software engineer with experience on many other fields like web development, databases, security, networking, cryptography and graphics just to name a few.
C, C++, C#, Java, Python, PHP and Assembly are only a few of the programming languages I have worked with. My motto and my dream is to turn my hobby into a job. In my opinion, the only way to do something right is to love what you do. If your job is not one of your hobbies then you will probably fail or live a miserable life doing something you hate. And I love what I do.
On my free time I like reading books, writing my own stories and playing piano and chess.
I really apreciate the time that you just dedicated on reading my bio :)
Thanks,
Konstantinos Kamaropoulos
