I am a software developer with CDW on the eCommerce web team which I join in 2014. Recently I've been helping our team lead move into continuous delivery and automation by implementing Chef and Splunk, in addition to working on our microservices and Web APIs.
Before that, since 2008, I led a small team in our Internal Services department which was responsible for a suite of ASP.NET intranet applications. Before CDW there were several other full-time and contracting gigs.
The journey began after graduating from Southern Illinois at Carbondale with Sears on an IBM 360 on which I learned assembly programming when green terminals were hot. I progressed through several obscure platforms (anyone remember Paradox?) before finally discovering .NET and the joys of C#, where I live today. Sprinkle with a big helping of SQL, add a dash of front-end development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
I'm currently working on a couple of side project for fun and (maybe) profit and a blog which is in serious need of attention. I've concentrated up to now on back-end coding, but really enjoy front-end design and am focusing on taking those skills to the next level. (Thank you, PluralSight!)
For fun, I enjoy trying to keep up with my 16-year-old son as he explores his favorite subjects - building and/or demolishing things, and soaking up trivia about any and all areas of science and technology. Plus golf, bowling, and racquetball.
