Well, I'm a musician as well as a programmer.
Music has been in my life since birth. My mom is a pianist, my father plays guitar. I've played trumpet since sixth grade and for the most part I learned to play it for myself. Thanks to my mother teaching me basic piano lessons, I knew how to read music already which placed me ahead of my peers. I had more time to learn the instrument and not worry about the technicalities that others did, and as a result, I became reasonably good. I enjoyed the instrument and become involved with school bands, community bands, orchestras, Cadet bands, bands galore! Ever since, I've begun to revisit the piano and have challenged myself to learn pieces beyond my level. I plan to retire with music, and maybe I'll actually get around to seriously studying the piano too.
I've been dealing with programming in some form or another since I was 10- starting with the time I picked up an HTML textbook. I eventually learned it and (probably two years later) and then I wanted to know about JavaScript, PHP, etc. I learned C in grade 7 and then Assembly Language in grade 10. Now I'm just working with JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3 and dabbling in game programming. I'll be pursuing computer programming in college. Wish me luck!
