Who I am

I'm Wojtek Szymkiewicz (pronounced: Voytek Shimkyaveetch)

I've been writing code since 1988 and still excited to do it! Since then I've been at Atari Basic, Turbo Basic XL, Delphi, C++, C#, C++HTML/CSS, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript - and I'm always curious to learn more.

At 23 I've completed my Master's degree in Computer Science.

My experience

Over the last 18 years I have been architecting, designing and writing software. Since 2005, I have also been building and leading development teams and creating software with them - recently as a certified Scrum Master. During that time I've learned to match the business-conscious approach with respect for engineering professionalism.

So far I've written software for various business uses (9 years), banking (5 years), online marketing automation (Google AdWords integrated, 4 years), ran web positioning and Google Analytics implementation projects.

The summary of what I do

  • I create usable software that sells, works and provides business value.
  • I manage development teams that get things done.
  • I come up with new ideas to develop software efficiently.

Where I am now...

...I created it myself. I started as a remote developer at Milner Browne in 2014 and since then I have built the entire development branch in Poland. I hired the team (10 developers, 1 DevOps Engineer), rented and ran the office for the team, lead and managed the development of the business's main product (Enterpryze, https://enterpryze.com), which I also architected and wrote significant parts of.

After hours

As a side project I run my own blog (computer productivity tips and tricks - http://szymkiewicz.pl) and SEO my wife's website (http://katowice-psycholog.pl) + do some basic PHP development for the latter - all with quite some success (50k users/month in my blog, 1st page in a highly competitive surroundings for my wife).

Whenever I'm not coding (yes, it does happen sometimes!), I'm a father of two, I ski, play tennis, rollerblade and work out at the gym. Or play the guitar. Oder lerne ich Deutsch, dass ich ein bisschen sprechen kann.
