I was exposed to the computer scene since the days of PDP11.

I am of the old school type really and deeply devoted to mathematics as a passion.

I would like to leave a deep and lasting legacy to this world by pioneering in the phi number system representation of digital data instead of the prevailing binary system.

Although they both use the same zeros and ones representation they behave totally differently from one another.

Viz. In phi systems all mathematical operations other than addition are eliminated because the phi system inherently does them thru the addition operation.

Secondly is that the phi system has an innate ability to represent infinite recursions in simple finite close forms and vice versa.

Phi apparently also forms a basis of our music.

In the equal tempered scale we use the approximation of the 12th root of 2 as the cents' value of the semitone. The value is approx. 1.059463

But since the musical octave has been partitioned by the ancients to divide the octave by 3/2 and securely placing the 5th note in this position, all other means of generating the missing notes become just approximation. The 5th note pertains to the 12th root of 2 to the power of 7 i.e. 1.4983 , not exactly 1.5.

Note that this partitioning ties the 3 important notes in a musical scale, i.e. the unison and the 5th and the octave. The pitch of the 5th being half the 3rd harmonic and this creates just intonation.

Having said that, the task of tuning a musical instrument then could only be achieved by what is called the circle of 5ths, a progression based on the 3/2 relationship which we know to be not exact.

Now if we assume that based on the 3/2 relationship, the 5th then is the 7th root of some number. 7th root of 3/2 is 1.059643 which is a close approximation to the 12th root of 2.

But another approximation tied to phi is (1/2)(phi + 1/2) which is 1.059016.

Which goes on to show that the partitioning of an octave by the 5th into 7/12 parts and requiring the relationship to be in a 3/2 ration may be mistaken, it could be that phi is intimately involved in the works.

Once I no longer have to run after my bread and beer I may sit me down and write a book. But given my age that may be at the final resting place !
