I received my B.S. in Physics from Georgia Institute of Technology and my M.S. in Applied Statistics from Kennesaw State University. I have acquired a diverse set of knowledge and skills working in the field of data science for the last 6+ years. I am a husband and father of a 3 year old boy-demon who I love more than anything in this world.
Skills:
- Programming languages: Scala, Python, SQL (Experienced); R/R Cloud, Pig, Matlab, Hive (Intermediate)
- Experienced working with UNIX, AWS, S3, SQL, Spark (Databricks and EMR), Docker containers, and working with APIs and Structured Data.
- Machine Learning and Statistical Techniques: GLM, LDA/LSI, Random Forest, Boosted Decision Trees/Regression, Naive Bayes, Graph Analysis and clustering techniques such as K-means and DBSCAN, Collaborative Filtering, Forecasting and Experimental Design techniques, Anomaly detection and EDA and pipe-lining said techniques.
Interests:
- Research
- Anomaly Detection
- Bayesian Methods
- The Art of Programming
- Improving the Lives of Others
The roles I am interested in are with smaller teams where you wear many hats (data engineer, data scientist, researcher, software engineer, etc.) and are allowed to be agile and get things done quickly. I like solving interesting problems and working for companies that are trying to improve the world even if its just in their own small way. I am also looking to make the step into a lead role managing more junior individuals. I like mentoring and I love teaching.
