I am a writer, programmer and Free Software advocate. I believe that sharing is good and we would benefit as a species from more cooperation.

As a programmer I mostly work with C/C++, and any other interesting language I can get my hands on (I've had great fun with Perl and LISP in the past).

I have been employed to write cross-platform GUI programs but seem to spend most of my time writing embedded firmware in C/C++ for Linux or FreeRTOS and configuring Embedded Linux build environments. If I get the chance I much prefer writing GUI programs in either GTK+, wxWidgets or Qt.

I use Trisquel at home and at work (although they insist I have a Windows computer as well I hardly ever use it). I use GNU/Emacs or GVim interchangeably and like them both. I also like gedit. Some of my other favourite software includes Libre Office, Inkscape, the GIMP and Synergy. Trisquel is my current favourite operating system (previously it was Debian) but I also like OpenSolaris, RISC OS and Haiku for different reasons.

As a writer I create fictional and non-fictional works and have had a small amount of success getting published.
