Hands-on tech lead delivering award-winning web and mobile applications used millions of people every year.

I have a passion for great UX backed by over a decade of experience (in both startups and established organisations) and strong technical skills with a particular focus on JS and web technologies.

SaaS products, API services and web properties from the teams I've led are used by millions and white-labelled by some of the biggest brands in their segments (like eBay, Confused.com, DBS Bank, Gumtree and The AA).

Much of my recent work has been with JS: On the server-side building microservices and API back-ends which are scalable and easily maintained; On the front-end as a tool for building rich, responsive interfaces for web and native apps.

I have:

• A very strong grasp on web and mobile technologies. (ES6, CSS3, React)

• Experience setting coding standards, setting up tests and build pipelines for Continuous Integration and automated deployment (ESLint, Jasmine, WebDriver, Jenkins, Puppet)

• Experience with both cloud (AWS) and on-premises infrastructure.

• Past professional experience with Perl, PHP, Ruby and Objective-C.

Leadership

I have been responsible for the design and end-to-end Agile technical development of over half a dozen projects. I've coordinated in-house and external resources, and worked as part of a distributed team. I have an ongoing relationship with several startups as a mentor or technical advisor.

Research

I’ve developed several tools for medical statistics, and software to support a large public health study. This research has been published in leading academic journals, and presented at events such as the Mathematical and Computational Medicine Conference 2012.
