I use Scala and Akka for APIs to manage Neo4J databases. I love functional programming and find that Scala provides a good mix of strong static typing and support for functional programming abstractions in the JVM.

Previously I worked for several as a Scala engineer at Jemstep for several years using Akka and Play in a robo advisor product for the American market.

I love the expressiveness of functional programming and the emphasis on correctness that is enabled by static typing and immutability.

Before joining Jemstep I used Java for Android applications and C# for a web API backend at Touchsides in Johannesburg. We gathered data from point of sales devices to improve understanding of the market for fast moving consumer goods.

Prior to working at Touchsides I was a Java and C++ developer at Seecrypt in Centurion South Africa.
