I've been slinging code for over 30 years, as a Software Test Automation Engineer. I've worked with TSL (Test Scripting Language - C-Like), VBScript (for WinRunner), .NET/C# (w/ VS, TFS, CodedUI), RUBY/Cucumber/Gherkin, Selenium/JAVA, Selenium WebDriver/C#. Unfortunately, I never got to stay with any one of these technologies to feel I had locked in the skill set. This was because upper management decided to throw out all the developed scripting code worked (approximately every 2.33 years) so they could switch to a new language and/or framework for whatever reason (sales pitch, new management, cost reduction, or recommendations from a new consultant as a preferred tools (see sales pitch). I call this Techno-Churn, and it cost me career confidence, and frustrated me with always having to start over with learning so, at best, I never felt more than a Mid-Level Everything. Sometimes I actually felt like I new NOTHING. Especially when a real Full Stack Software Developer told me, "You may do some coding, but you're not a developer." Fortunately, I love coding, and debugging, and writing really good comments, and reports so much that I still get excited, and feel passionate about this work so that the days still pass by too fast when working. NOW: I'm going to dig into to C#/.NET, Visual Studio, AZURE Dev-Ops, NUnit, Selenium and whatever else I can learn, to start over from "Scratch" and start a journey to become a "REAL C#/.NET SOFTWARE DEVELOPER". Come with me.
