I love building incredible user experiences, whether they be on desktop, mobile, or new and exciting platforms. Emerging technology and the future of human-computer interaction are thrilling to me. I'm interested in using design and systems theory principles to create a better future and improve our quality of life.
Buckminster Fuller is perhaps the patron saint of this belief system. I look to his 'Synergetics' as some would their holy books. His maxim 'Daire to be naïve' is a constant reminder to approach every project with fresh eyes, every experience as a newborn. I also keep his adage regarding beauty keenly in mind, especially with regards to design tasks:
"When I am working on a problem I never think about beauty. I only think about how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong."
My experience has brought me from working on 48-speaker sound installations at the age of 16 to writing iPad and Android apps, by way of many years spent crafting best-in-class websites and web applications.
In 2009, I founded Pharaoh with Alex Grande, an incredibly skilled and visionary technologist. The company's purpose is inherently twofold. First, we set out to create innovative products using emerging technologies, such as mobile and tablet devices. Second, we began working with other companies and individuals, either as service providers or collaborators, to bring their ideas to life on mobile devices.
Towards the first goal, we have released applications garnering over a million installations. We continue to develop products in-house, both for profit as well as public services such as [to-seattle.com][1] (a mobile Seattle handbook) and ferryflee.com (mobile WSF ferry schedule).
In our capacity as a mobile strategy agency, we have worked with a number of clients on some pretty exciting projects, and continue to do so. Our website wearepharaoh.com has all the info on our latest projects.
I'm always open to new ideas. If you have an idea for a collaboration or just want to chat about the future of technology, the web, cybersociology, philosophy or anything else, shoot me an email!
