Having gone up through the ranks of C/C++/Java/Linux development into management, I'm cycling back to development. I'm really excited about several technologies now, all for different reasons.
1) Python - It's amazingly appropriate for interactive research with the Jupyter notebook and utilizes C/C++/Go libraries with ease.
2) C++ - C++11,14,17 are really brand new programming languages, much, much nicer than before.
3) Golang - This has got to be the most simple of the static-C style, and the first that really looks appropriate for the business workplace.
4) Container-based Linux for agility, portability and safety.
Still, what I really like more than anything is helping others succeed. I've had a lot of fun watching employees, interns and new CS students grow.
