Growing up in a household of performers, I could sing before I could walk. I have been a professional actress since the age of 5 on both stage and screen. However, there has always been a part of me that found performing to have a fleeting satisfaction. You pour your heart on your sleeve, deliver a great performance, and it’s gone in an instant. I craved something permanent that I could hold in my hand, a product and result of my hard work.

While pursuing an acting career in NYC I founded a bluegrass band, the NYCity Slickers. As one of three lead singers, and songwriter I found music more fulfilling than acting and decided to put all of my focus on my band. With two CDs and a tour of Norway under my belt this business venture not only stimulated me creatively but also helped me discover my love of coding and graphic design. I taught myself how to read and write minor code in order to update my band’s website. This was only the beginning. It wasn’t long until I discovered Photoshop & Illustrator and the world around me started to come to life. I began to see art in places that I had overlooked in the past. From an advertisement in the subway to the packaging in the grocery aisles, art was everywhere. I felt invigorated in a way I hadn’t experienced before and knew that this was the direction I wanted to go in.

I began my formal Graphic Design & Web Programming education at Hunter College in 2014, launched my own freelance company, Abigail Hardin Designs, for custom built Actor websites in 2015 and haven’t stopped there. I know that this is the tip of the iceberg and I am ecstatic to see where this venture takes me.
