I'm a webdesigner who's learned to code with HTML and CSS. One day I realized I had to learn JS. After I started working with WordPress, I had to learn a bit of PHP too. As I delved into code, I fell in love with code standards, code efficiency, patterns, code editors, techniques, methodologies etc.
Now I'm what you'd call a Frontend Developer who likes to treat his work as an actual craft. However, code for no users is useless code. The results of my work must be accessible and easy to use. That's to say I love ergonomics and accessibility too.
I still layout my websites, though I spend most of the time coding. Even so, I would still say I'm actually a Designer, because there's much more to design than just the visuals.
Oh, I own a webstudio that reflects my views regarding webdesign: http://strongway.com.br
