I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa, born and raised, but my wife & I moved to the US in March of 2016 to pursue a career opportunity that was too good to pass up.

I've been involved in (or owned) IT companies for most of my professional career, and during that time I donned several hats to get the job done - one of which allowed me the fortunate opportunity to collaborate in the development of a few applications; both thick and thin. I have always been fascinated with development, but I was very rarely involved in writing the actual code - I served more as a bridge between the devs and sales/ops (I wouldn't go so far as to give myself a field promotion of DevOps, either.)

Since the move, I have had an opportunity to study web development and apply what I have learned to a real-world project - soon to be hosted publically (it is now March 2017). It has been absolutely amazing.

I started in 2015 with Harvard's CS50 course. Which changed my world and steered me from C into PHP and JS. I'm now doing a Udacity course which focuses on Python.

I absolutely love the programming and have been extremely fortunate to be able to learn as I have and I look forward to building my StackOverflow reputation as I learn.
