I think and speak code since I was a little boy, about twelve years old or so. I learned a lot of stuff on the SdZ (le Site du Zéro), a french forum/website to talk and learn about IT technologies (systems, networks, databases, code, design, …) which later rebranded itself as OpenClassRooms, one of the first well-known MOOC platform in France.
I learned about C / C++, HTML / CSS / JS, PHP, VBA, SQL, etc. I really liked it and was pretty good at it, so I decided to make this my future main source of income and oriented all my education choices toward this goal.
Being practicing web development for a long time, it didn’t make any sense to learn at school about things I already knew ! So I decided to go see what was on the other side and graduated in a generalist « infrastructure, system and networks » section. I then did a quick cursus to validate all the stuff I learnt by myself in code and architecture.
I went right away in the big bath : creating a company to do some freelance work. I kept doing mostly front-end stuff, but was more and more attracted to back-end, so I started learning Node.js. I mixed front-end and back-end work until I reached a point where back-end stuff was more attracting than front-end, that’s when I switched to being a full back-end dev.
I’ve always been interested in a lot of stuff related to computers, programs and automation. I give a great deal to the developer experience, so it’s natural that I started being interested by CI, CD, Cloud, Containers… And started managing the databases, cloud solutions and developer tools for my customers, in addition to the back-end stuff. Of which, as you can guess, I got bored as well.
So, that’s a journey of about 20 years in a few characters. I’m still on the same path I defined at the age of twelve, coming and going to several aspects related to the web. I’m currently specializing in Kubernetes Cloud, Ops and Security as a DevOps engineer, and I came back for a bit of front-end love too ! JavaScript for ever <3
Since a few months, I’m particularly interested in TypeScript and Cloud security / compliance. I might have a few questions, and I know the SO community will be there.
