Previously a qualified diesel / hydraulics mechanic for around 20 years.
I Got interested in computers, and bought my first one around 1998 from a company that ended up on a news program for selling dodgy equipment and charging wood ducks a fortune to fix the issues (including me), so thought, let me learn this stuff as well so I don't get ripped off again.
Now, without any formal eduction , I've taught myself enough to be fairly proficient in a few areas, (which makes me one of those with enough information to be dangerous!), but I have enough respect to know those trained really know what they are doing and always lean on the advice of those people, and stackoverflow comes into that realm.
An awesome aspect of that is the open network is full of people willing to share with almost no pretence (yeah, I have had a 'mightier than you response', but they are the exception). The overall sense of helpful community always amazes me, and I have been a keen stackoverflow consumer for many years. I just hope that now I have a little confidence, I can also share at least one gem that helps a fellow member, or wood duck like me, to find a solution to their problem.
I know there are many smarter than I, still if you have certain php, mysql or even VBA issue, depending on the context, I've tackled some pretty weird requirements, so will help where I can.
And as for the default entry here on some cowboy thing after hours, I do play amateur guitar and have a small collection of axes. I love metal, punk, Aussie pub rock bands, and most pre 80's rock and roll regardless of country of origin. Music Rules! (no offence to coding guru's)
