I've had more than one career, but currently I work in Rail Signalling. The best paid job I ever had was teaching 16 to 18 year olds who finished schooling with minimal or no qualifications - everyone of which impressed me their intelligence, adaptiveness, ingenuity - all in spite of school teachers who had repeatedly called them stupid. The most socially responsible job was working on a product that prevented the causes of breaks in railway tracks, and therefore reduced the number of train derailments.

I have one daughter, one partner, and five cats.
